3-Phase 16A Break-Out
Not all event locations are equipped with one or more power current connections. In these cases, you can have a generator installed or use 'normal' sockets. If the venue has one, it’s most often a compact 16A connection. These can be supplied quite easily and do not require a lot of extra power. Substantial changes to the distribution board are therefore unnecessary. However, you’ll often need special materials, such as a break-out box.
Power current Connection
The 16A power connection is widely used by caterers. Large ovens or heating cabinets usually come equipped with 5-pronged red connections. These can therefore often be connected directly. However, this doesn’t apply to audiovisual equipment. These mainly operate on 230V and not on 400V. In order to be able to use these devices anyway, you’ll need a special break-out box. This splits the power current connection into 3 separate phases of 230V, as it were. This gives you access to 3 'normal' power groups of 16A on 230V. Enough to supply sufficient power to all audiovisual equipment at small to medium-sized events.
Break Out Box
We are more than happy to rent you a break out box. Without this special power distributor, you simply cannot connect any audiovisual equipment to a power current connection. This box has two different types of connections. The input is connected to a 5-pronged 16A power cable. This provides the break out box with voltage. There is also voltage on the 6 outputs, which are shuko outlets. You can connect audiovisual equipment to these outputs. There are 2 outputs available per phase, so when distributing equipment, take into account the power consumption of the connected equipment. It’s preferable to set up the equipment in such a way that all three groups are charged equally.
