Wireless LED PixelBar
The brand new Astera AX2 pixelbar! After the much anticipated announcement, the moment is finally there that we can offer this product in our rental stock. Of course there has always been a gap in the assortment of Astera lighting. After the LED spots, LED tubes and the Nyx bulb, the logical next step always was the LED bar. And thus, that's what the renowned German brand developed. Not just any wireless pixel bar. But a product that packed with technical ingenuity. And as most Astera users are used to, all the needed accessories to make the lighting fixture applicable to any type of event.
Some of the great features of earlier Astera models are part of the solid basis for this pixelbar. Fully charged the AX2-100 can function for 20 hours uninterrupted. It uses the same communication platform as all the other Astera products. This means you can communicate with the fixture via wireless DMX or the Astera App on your tablet or phone. The LED bar has an IP-65 rating, making it perfectly suitable for indoor- and outdoor events, regardless of weather conditions. Without any active cooling, the pixel bar functions without the disturbance of noisy fans. All above-mentioned features make this the perfect product for a large variety of events. A conference, gala dinner, film recording session or fashion show? You name it, this fixture is up to the job.
Light source AX2 PixelBar
Underneath the chic design, the Astera AX2 PixelBar is equipped with 16 powerful light sources of 10 Watts. All together, these independent controllable LED's offer a power output of 160 Watts. Just like the earlier introduced TitanTube and Nyx Bulb, the light source has Philips RGBMA (Red, Green, Blue, Mint, Amber) LED's. With this unique combination you produce colours which are not possible with other lighting fixtures that offer a RGB(A)W package. Before the AX2's left the factory they have been calibrated. Due to this calibration Astera can guarantee a colourfastness higher than 96 (TLCI > 96 and CRI > 96).
Filter
Different than the other fixtures in the AX product line, the AX2 PixelBar has a beam angle of 21°. In contrast to the earlier used beam angle of 13°in the
AX3,
AX5 and
AX9. The new beam angle is improved with the help of the new optics of Gaggione. This enables an even better colour mixing from floor to ceiling. A complete and even colour is the result.
Of course it's possible to manipulate the beam angle of 21° with the help of the included filters. By placing the flood filter the beam angle changes to 30 degrees. Do you use the WallWash filter, this can even be extended to 120 degrees.
- No Filter: Beam angle of 21°
- Flood Filter: Beam angle of 30°
- Wallwash Filter: Beam angle of 120°
Battery
A wireless pixelbar is only completely wireless with an excellent battery. No more cables, a clean result and a lot of setup and dismantle time saved during an event. These are the most obvious benefits of using battery powered lighting. The Astera AX2 PixelBar has a LG Chem battery to power the LED bar up to 20 hours. Is the fixture completely empty? In only 5 hours, the device is fully charged again.
Seamless Runtime
How do you know for sure that your battery powered lighting makes the end of your event? Astera has come up with a solution for this. The 'seamless runtime'. With this feature, the fixture calculates the capacity of the battery it may use to meet the set duration. The maximum you can select is 20 hours. This smart feature guarantees that you won't end up in the dark. A peace of mind for your event manager!
Wireless Communication
To control the fixtures of Astera remotely a special controller has been developed: the
AsteraBox. This piece of equipped operates as a sort of translation device. By connecting the AsteraBox to the AsteraApp, you can send colours presets, programs and chases to the lighting fixtures. Moreover, the lamps all send back data like battery indication, dim curve and status back to the App. All this communication is run on the RF frequency (865 - 870 MHz). And thus avoids the busy 2,4 GHz frequency. This prevents errors and extends the bandwidth up to 30 meters. It goes without saying that the AsteraBox (and included tablet) functions on an internal battery as well.
Does your lighting technician prefer the use of a DMX lighting desk instead the AsteraApp? No worries, within a second you turn the AsteraBox into a wireless DMX transmitter. Connect the AsteraBox to your lighting desk and you are ready to go.
Flicker Free PixelBar
The AX2 PixelBar has been designed to be used at events, but also a film set. So it's important that the lamp works well on camera. Older LED lighting has the downside that it flickers on camera. This has to do with the fact that the LEDs are not continuously on, like a regular lighting bulb, but flashes really quick. Almost like a strobe. You won't be able to register this with the human eye, but it does show on camera. With the help of the AsteraBox you can change the refresh rate of the PixelBar between 200 and 1205 Hz. This handy feature guarantees a flicker free operating pixelbar.
BarConnect+
The Astera AX2 PixelBar has a handy new feature. BarConnect+ it's called. This allow you to connect multiple PixelBars together. These LED bars have been designed with the idea that the space between the LEDs is the same, even if you connect multiple bars together. This offers a nice even spread of the light output. Moreover BarConnect+ also takes care of the communication between the devices. Making addressing multiple fixtures super easy. Some technical ingenuity, much appreciated by the setup crew.
