4K Recorder
Streaming, it's all the rage in the event industry. However after your livestream the content created is lost. Unless you record it, there is no way to review or send the video to the participants. Even-though this sometimes would be very beneficial. Reason the more to add a recording functionality to your online or hybrid event. This BlackMagic Design Hyperdeck 12G enables you to make quality recordings of the whole event.
Connecting
Basically the Hyperdeck is a rather easy to use device. At the rear you easily connect a video source via the SDI or HDMI connection. This can either be a camera for a ISO recording or a video mixer where the feed of the livestream will be recorded. This is the so called 'program'. This recorder handles any resolution from 525i 59,94Hz till 2160p 60Hz.
Recording
At the front of the device it's equipped with two large slots. These can be used for SSD disks. The availability of the double slot is meant to guarantee a continuous recording. First disk full? The Hyperdeck will seamlessly switch to the second disk.
Before you start recording, it's essential to format the SSD disks. Only then you know for sure the disks are empty, so that the maximum recording capacity is available. When formatting you can directly select the file format. Either ExFAT or HFS+. Essential when you in a later stage like to connect to a computer or Mac, each which supports only one of the file formats.
After formatting, it's also of the essence to select the codec you want to use for your recording. Depending on disk space, length of recording, chosen codec and editing software you can choose the right option for you. As a general rule, the more 'raw' the codec, the more data per second is stored on the disk. Please bear in mind that your computer needs to be able to support the intensity of recording. Is your computer not up to the job, than it's better to chose a compromised codec or lower resolution.
