DJ Monitor Mono
Going through a DJ rider, you will always find a DJ monitor. The DJ booth is required to have a single or double DJ monitor. Often even a certain number of decibels is required. Why is this monitor so essential to DJ's?
Why is a DJ monitor so essential to DJ's?
A DJ usually stands quite far away from the sound system which is set up for the audience. On top of this, the sound system is usually facing away from the DJ. This means that there is a substantial delay between when the audience hears the music and when the DJ hears it. This makes mixing almost impossible. In order to make it possible, the DJ often has his own monitor in the DJ booth. This is known as the DJ monitor.
This monitor is facing the DJ, so that the sound is directly relayed to the DJ without the delay via the large audience sound system. And thus enabling the DJ to make the perfect mix.
Positioning
The monitor is positioned and pointed at the ears of the DJ so that the sound is delivered as directly as possible. This monitor has a so-called monitor side. Placing the monitor on this side, the monitor can be placed on the ground and still point upwards to the DJ. While neatly out of side, the 2 meter distance between the monitor and DJ is often considered too much for the DJ. In this package you will also find a speaker stand. Using the speaker stand you can get the speaker / monitor up to ear-height.
